Hi guys, nice to be back doing some writing for you again.

This year was my second year racing Enduro, and my first as Giant Store Rutland water’s Ambassador. First off I would just like to thank the whole team for helping me out. You have made it possible for me to travel far and wide this year and race bikes in stunning locations round the UK, many thanks everyone!

I picked up my Giant E-Trance Pro 2 in November last year, this gave me a few months to set the bikes suspension and get used to the different riding style to my regular bikes.
My first event was the Pedalhounds multi stage Enduro at Canada Heights, this was a fairly short course with most of the stages about 30-50 seconds, not a lot of time to get settled into the flow bit none the less great fun. I placed 9/17 in Ebikes Open, after a crash and loosing a lot of time.

Next was the first round of the Welsh Enduro Championship held at Foel Gasnach Downhill center. For anyone who likes super techy, tight, fast runs it’s well worth checking out. Conditions were favourable compared to last year (4” snow). I managed to place 4th on the day, this was a lot of fun as it really requires you to pay attention to suspension set up, something that is crucial in dealing with the added weight racing Ebikes.
Next we visited Dyfi for Rd2 of the WES, this was billed as a super loamy race, unfortunately storm Hannah had other ideas and washed out the course. After dropping tyre pressures to near flat thanks to the Huck Norris inserts supplied by the shop. I managed to find some of the near non existent grip and finish a solid 2nd.

Next up, I returned to Llandegla for Rd3 of the WES, always a fun, flat out track it’s rapidly becoming one of my faves. After a decent race and some strong competition from the local Ebike scene I didn’t quite cut the podium, finishing 4th.

In June we travelled up to A VERY wet Tweedlove festival at Innerleithen. Saturday in the Normal Enduro I finished 74th/101. The Main event for me was the inaugural Bosch International Ebike Championship on Sunday and with little chance of drying out I managed a respectable finish of 12th in a class consisting multiple world champions and current EWS racers. To say I was happy would be and understatement and I can’t wait to return to Scotland.
Next we travelled to Llangollen, Wales for the PMBA Enduro Rd4, Llangollen is a full on National Downhill centre and widely known as home to some of the steepest runs in the UK. Finishing was a goal but to walk away with 48/87 in the open masters was well worth the journey, sadly no Ebikes at PMBA races but fingers crossed next year they may open a few events. Sadly Ard Rock was washed out this year, entries deferred to 2020, also I was forced to miss the Naughty Northumbrian due to family commitments.

That left the final round of the Welsh Enduro Series at Gwydir (Marin), the Championship was on the line here, 1st was unachievable but a strong finish could have bagged me a podium. After some fantastic fast loose racing I managed 2nd on the Day which left me snagging the 3rd step on the Championship podium.

All in it’s been a fantastic year and the ETrance has proved more than capable from Bike Park Wales and BMCC to Chicksands and the Viking Challenge (non assist 65km challenge).
Big things are already under way for 2020 with a warm up race around the corner so watch this space. Lastly I would just like to thank my family for being so understanding when I’m darting off across the country, to “play” on bikes! 😂 Phil at the shop for giving me this opportunity and Tim and the hardworking workshop staff for keeping them in working order!😜
